The North Central Ohio Solid Waste District is not endorsing the companies/business listed below, but is providing this list as a public service.
The list is compiled from a voluntary survey of area business, it is always best to contact the business in advance to be sure they are still accepting all the items listed. There may also be other recyclers in your area that are not included on this list.

Household Dry Cell Alkaline Batteries

Alkaline batteries can be safely disposed of with normal household waste. Alkaline batteries are composed primarily of common metals - steel, zinc and manganese. While some communities offer recycling or collection of alkaline batteries a proven cost-effective and environmentally safe recycing process is not yet widely available.

Do NOT dispose of large amounts of alkaline batteries in a group. Used batteries are often not completely 'dead' and bringing these batteries in contact with one another could create a safety risk.
Never dispose of batteries in a fire, because they could explode.
